Howard Mittman is a media executive with more than two decades of business development, digital strategy, and content expertise. He serves as president of 888 U.S., leading all U.S. business operations for 888 Holdings, the multinational online betting and gaming company. Mittman is responsible for 888 U.S.'s partnership with Authentic Brands
Group, owner of Sports Illustrated. Previously, Mittman was the founder and CEO of Record Scratch, a professional atelier providing consultancy services in marketing, communications, branding, business development, and strategy.
The recipient of a bachelor of arts in journalism from The Ohio State University, Howard Mittman began his career in media as an account director responsible for digital sales at New York magazine. He served subsequently joined Time Inc. as advertising director for the publications Mutual Funds and Popular Science. He joined Condé Nast in 2006.
Mittman spent 11 years at Condé Nast, during which time he held positions such as vice president and publisher of WIRED, chief revenue officer and publisher of GQ and GQ Style, and chief business officer for ALPHA, which included several popular publications. He oversaw sales, marketing, and R&D, and drove business growth in each position. Moreover, he spearheaded an expansion of digital business for WIRED; the publication was among the first magazine brands to derive half of its advertising from digital sources.
Howard Mittman joined Bleacher Report in 2017 as chief revenue officer and chief marketing officer and was appointed CEO in 2019. He created the sports and lifestyle company's events division which, in 2018, brought in more than $40 million of sponsorship and incremental advertising revenue. Mittman also built its digital media and branded content strategy and boosted social advertising from $600,000 to $82 million through partnerships with prominent companies, including Adidas, Ford, P&G, and Google. These and other efforts prompted Fast Company to call Bleacher Report "SportsCenter for Gen Z."
Throughout his career, Mittman has received several other awards and honors, including Advertising Age's Publisher of the Year (2014) and Adweek Media's Magazine Leader of the Decade (2013). He was also included on the Adweek Hot List (2017, 2019) and named to the Media Industry News Hall of Fame.
