With a strong base of knowledge in cardiology and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Hasan Hammo most recently served as chief medicine resident at Stroger Hospital of Cook County Health. He began with the institution in 2021 as an internal medicine resident and completed an in-depth training program. Dr. Hasan Hammo’s work in Chicago spanned various
medical subspecialties and required coordinating with practitioners in pharmacy, nursing, and social work.
In his chief medicine resident role, Dr. Hammo acted as an advocate and leader, representing fellow physicians in discussions with hospital administrators. He also informed outpatient clinics and inpatient services, and performed procedures such as lumbar punctures, paracentesis, and thoracentesis. Dr. Hammo’s preventive approach to care extends to the health policy level, and he has experience coordinating mass screening programs.
Dr. Hasan Hammo is a University of Jordan medical school graduate who earned the Dean's Award for Excellence. He spent a year as general practitioner at the Prince Hussein Hospital, and also focused on care for al Baqaa refugee residents. During his time working to diagnose and treat various pathologies, he cycled through the internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, and OB/GYN fields.
