The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine (UPENN). He founded CAG in 2006 and established it as the largest pediatric biobank and genomic database in the world. Before founding CAG, Dr. Hakonarson held various leadership roles at deCODE genetics, including head of pharmacogenomics, vice president of clinical sciences and development, and chief scientific officer overseeing the company’s CRO operations. deCODE was acquired by AMGEN in 2012. Dr. Hakonarson is a world leading authority in the field of applied genomics and translational research, and he was recently ranked among „the world’s most influential scientific minds” by Thomson Reuters (top 1%), with over 1000 publications and h-index above 170. He is a graduate of the University of Iceland, School of Medicine and performed his Ph.D. research at the University of Pennsylvania.
