Gianmarino Gianfrate is a Trauma and Critical Care Fellow at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He is a board-certified general surgeon with experience in trauma surgery, surgical critical care, and resuscitation.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Gianfrate is involved in trauma education, physician training,
and quality improvement initiatives. He serves as an instructor for programs including Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET), Rural Trauma Team Development (RTTD), and Stop the Bleed. He has also participated in multicenter educational initiatives focused on trauma resuscitation and pREBOA training.
Before his fellowship, Dr. Gianfrate served as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), where he taught medical students and surgical residents. His research interests include trauma surgery, critical care, traumatic brain injury, hemorrhage management, and surgical outcomes. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in medical and surgical journals.
Gianmarino Gianfrate, MD, completed his General Surgery Residency at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and earned his medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Science and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh.
