George Stamas joined NEA in 2002 as a Venture Partner. George is also a Senior Partner of the international law firm of Kirkland & Ellis. He is the former Vice Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, Inc. and he continues to serve on the Advisory Board of Deutsche Banc Capital, the bank’s private equity arm. He is a founding
director of FTI Consulting, a NYSE listed worldwide business services firm and a director of NexCen, a NASDAQ quoted brand consolidator. Active in local sports enterprises, he is a Director and investor in the Baltimore Orioles Baseball Club, the Washington Capitals Hockey Club and Washington Wizards basketball. Mr. Stamas is active in numerous Baltimore and Washington charities and is a graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate of the University of Maryland Law School. Following graduation, he joined the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as its Special Counsel. Mr. Stamas has been listed in Best Lawyers in America on numerous occasions and was previously named by The American Lawyer as one of the leading 45 lawyers in America under the age of 45.
