George Kunst, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio graduated from Wilkes College in 1974 (B.S. in Business), and received a J.D. degree from the Duquesne University School of Law in 1985.
Kunst began his career with U.S. Steel Corporation in 1974 in Security at the Clairton Coke Works in Clairton,
Pennsylvania and subsequently served in the Safety, Training and Labor Relations Departments at Clairton. In 1983, he was transferred to U.S. Steel’s Mon Valley Works, Irvin headquarters as Staff Supervisor, Labor Relations.
In 1985, after graduation from law school, Kunst moved to U.S. steel Headquarters, Labor Relations as an Arbitration Attorney where he represented U.S. Steel in binding arbitration and negotiations with the USW involving the Company’s labor, pension and benefit agreements.
In 1990, he was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Arbitration Group and in 1991 was named Manager – Labor Relations Administration for U.S. Steel Group.
In 1994, Kunst became General Manager – Employee Relations for USS-POSCO Industries and in 2014 was appointed Vice President, Human Resources and Legal Affairs. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, the American Iron and Steel Institute and the Industrial Association of Contra Costa County.
He and his wife Deborah reside in Brentwood, California.
