George E. Bates graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1961 and Millikin University in 1963. George entered the financial services industry with Investors Diversified Services in May of 1963, where he subsequently earned the designation of Financial Correlator. In August of 1972, he began offering tax-deferred investments and financial planning to
university faculty and staff throughout northern Illinois. In June of 1982, Mr. Bates opened Bates Securities, Inc., a general securities broker/dealer firm which is a member of the Financial Industry National Regulatory Authority. In 1984, George started George E. Bates and Associates, Inc. (now Bates Financial Advisors, Inc.), which is registered with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). In 1985, he was granted his Certified Financial Planner™ designation and became a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners. In addition, he is a licensed insurance broker and agent conducting business through Bates Financial Services, Inc., a corporation founded in 1992.
