Eugene B. Johnson, also known as Gene, serves as the President of Northland Telephone Company of Maine Inc., and Secretary of University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Johnson Co-founded Fairpoint Communications, Inc., and served as its Chief Executive Officer from January 1, 2002 to July 1, 2009. He served as Chief Development Officer of
Fairpoint Communications Inc., from May 1993 to December 2002 and also served as its Executive Vice President from February 1998 to December 2001, Senior Vice President from 1993 to 1998. Mr. Johnson served as President and principal shareholder of JC&A, Inc., an investment banking and brokerage firm providing services to the cable television, telephone and related industries from 1987 to 1993. He served as the Chairman of Fairpoint Communications, Inc., from January 1, 2003 to July 1, 2009 and served as Vice Chairman from August 1998 to December 2002. Mr. Johnson served as a Director of Fairpoint Communications Inc., from 1991 to July 1, 2009. Mr. Johnson is also on the board of trustees of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is on the board of directors of the Foundation of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Inc., and the United States Telecom Association. He served as a Director of OPASTCO from 1997 to 2002 and as the Director of the mergers and acquisitions department of Cable Investments, Inc. from 1985 to 1987.
