An impact investor and marketing and sales strategist, Starr is actively working with GoSun in business development. He has also been a board member for over two dozen start-ups (ranging from lemonade to electric cars) including two companies that became public. Manager, Starr was a pioneer in solar, water conservation, and electric cars. Automotive News named Starr one of the top ten authorities in electric cars. A gorilla marketer, Advertising Age placed him in their Marketing 100 along with Steve Jobs & Richard Branson. He has several publications to his credit and is the is the holder of multiple patents, was one of the earliest successful equity crowdfunders, has conceptualized APPs, created solar devices, electric cars, scooters, and other products. Starr’s team was a finalist in the international X-prize. Over 275,000 of his products have been manufactured and marketed worldwide. For over thirty years, Starr has managed international sales groups and has taught classes in creativity, product development, distribution, & sales, including “How to Close the Sale” to car dealers. Starr, a graduate of UC Davis has been a guest lecturer at universities and symposiums including the University of Hong Kong, and Stanford Graduate School of Business. Starr has been on more than 350 radio and television shows including Larry King Live, The Today Show, & CNN. Several of his products have been placed in major Hollywood motion pictures and television shows including "The Princess Diaries" "Naked Gun" and “Looper.” Starr has authored legislation on the city, county, state and federal level. He has written grants from $500 to a $260 million federal loan, and has helped raise over $550 million for private, public, and non-profits. Starr judges for various investment pitch groups and enjoys growing emerging impact companies, travel, art, and teaching his dog Maya new tricks.
