Mr. Garry L. Shields,CFA serves as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Rhevision Technology Inc. Mr. Shields has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Armorpoint Inc. since October 2006. He served as the Managing Director at AvTech Ventures. Mr. Shields co-founded AvTech Ventures in 2001. He has spent most of his 25-year
career as a venture capitalist, investment banker, portfolio manager, research analyst, and entrepreneur working closely with emerging growth companies that leverage advances in technology to address large market opportunities. During the four years prior to forming the firm, Mr. Shields was a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Flemming, Lessard & Shields LLC (FLS), where he and his partners completed over $300 million of equity funding, $150 million of debt funding, and $300 million of mergers and acquisitions for approximately 50 San Diego based companies. In 2001, he left Flemming, Lessard & Shields. Mr. Shields started his career at First City National Bank (where he financed the growth of Asia companies in the U.S. and Credit Lyonnais (where he engineered financial transactions for the international expansion of Fortune 500 companies, many focused on technology). In 1984, Mr. Shields joined Technological Investors Management Corporation. As a Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager, he managed two hedge funds and several institutional portfolios. After this, he joined LF Rothshchild. As a Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst, he provided coverage for several sectors of technology including the semiconductor, communications, and storage industries. Among the companies he covered were several of NASDAQ's most actively traded stocks. After this, Mr. Shields joined Robertson Stephens. While there, he continued his career as a Research Analyst and then moved to the corporate finance area of the firm. He was one of the Founders of Robertson Stephens' renowned Environmental Services team and led its Environmental Services Corporate Finance effort to become a leading investment bank in that industry. Following this, Mr. Shields joined The Chicago Corporation. There he headed its technology and healthcare investment banking groups completing several important transactions for that firm.
After this, Mr. Shields joined Integrated Medical Systems (IMS). There, he served as the company's Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance and Development and played a major role in engineering a strategic alliance with McKesson Corporation and was instrumental in the sale of the company to Eli Lilly in 1995. Mr. Shields serves on the Boards of Amazingmail, HealthMedia, Innovative IT Solutions, Media.net, Nomadix, Pivotal Post, Ardesta, LLC, and Media.net. He served as a Director of Tomotherapy Incorporated. He served as a Director of Favrille Inc. since April 2004. He was featured in 1999 in the Harcourt Brace Professional Publishing book titled Financing Start Ups: How to Raise Money for Emerging Companies. Mr. Shields became recognized as a leading technology investor and was featured frequently in the New York Times, the Wall Street Transcript, the Wall Street Journal, and other publications.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst Mr. Shields received a B.A., with Honors, in Economics from University of Cincinnati and was a Georgetown Fellow in the M.S.F.S. Program at Georgetown University.
