Gary brings an effective mix of applied knowledge and skills to the 2NDNATURE team with a background in hydrology, geography and statistics. His scientific research in watershed hydrology has focused on fluvial geomorphology, satellite remote sensing, hydrologic modeling, land cover change and water quality. At the NMS, Gary led a regional
multi-agency partnership to facilitate region-wide water quality monitoring coordination and analysis for addressing the sources, status, and trends of non-point source (NPS) pollution on the central coast of California. At 2NDNATURE, Gary applies his expertise of pollution dynamics in watershed systems to address environmental issues at various geographic scales. He tackles problems with an approach grounded in the rigor of scientific principles providing a growing toolbox of technical skills that includes command of diverse statistical analysis techniques, database construction/data management, and interactive web-mapping design. Gary’s technical expertise and agency experience adds to 2NDNATUREs ability to provide scientifically valid solutions to improve the communication and prioritization of actions by natural resource managers.
