Myron F. Steves Jr., known as Buddy, oversees bail bond operations, manages MS Privacy and leads the healthcare liability practice. Buddy joined Myron Steves in 1973 after several years working in the healthcare industry and receiving his CPCU designation in 1972. This experience allowed him to establish Myron Steves’ healthcare liability practice

in 1975, which wrote some of the first liability programs excess of self-insured retentions. Working with large reinsurers and policy issuing (fronting) companies, he was able to craft unique solutions to the risk financing challenges of health systems in tough legal venues. In 2005, Buddy assumed oversight of Financial Casualty & Surety Insurance Company (FCS), which he has grown into the largest bail bond surety in the country. In recent years, Buddy has broadened his focus to new product development. He founded and directly manages MS Privacy Solutions, the company’s identity protection and identity recovery business, and other cyber insurance products.

Prior to1973, Buddy worked as the assistant to the Executive Director of the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, was a Huebner Foundation Fellow in Business and Applied Economics (Risk and Insurance) and completed all the work on his PhD except for his dissertation. His master’s thesis, in the area of medical malpractice, became the basis of articles published in prominent law and insurance journals. He has been heavily involved in tort reform efforts since 1986 and currently serves on the board of the Texas Alliance for Patient Access (TAPA). Buddy is also a founder and principal in Actuarial Research Group (1977) and currently holds board positions in the following organizations: Children at Risk, University of Fondwa-USA, Houston Swing Dance Society, Texas Association of Business.

Buddy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of St. Thomas and a Master of Arts degree in Business and Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and a General Property & Casualty license.
