Over a 25 year career, Dr. Magee has worked exclusively on developing devices in orthopedics. With both start-up and corporate experience, Dr. Magee specializes in guiding organizations through their design, development, commercialization, and expansion stages including a number of highly successful exits. As the former Chief Technology Officer
(CTO) of Synthes Spine, Spine Solutions, and Orthologic, Dr. Magee has also managed the global commercialization of numerous Class 2 and Class 3 technologies and has led activities including, design, development, regulatory, surgeon training and manufacturing. Dr. Magee’s approach to integrating clinical and strategic initiatives provides a unique aspect to the business and was a key element in the development of the first successful total disc replacement technology (now owned by Johnson & Johnson). Dr. Magee began his career as a veterinarian serving as the Head of Experimental Surgery at the Harrington Arthritis Research Center and worked on the development of Total Joint Prostheses for human application.
