Ethan Ruby

Ethan was born in 1995 and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Growing up in a multicultural household, he holds dual citizenship in the United States and France. His upbringing emphasized discipline, dedication, and community values. His parents built a hospitality business in New York City, providing him with early exposure to business operations and leadership.

Ethan attended the Bronx High School of Science, where he was involved in athletics, including track and field. He was also a member of the school’s mock trial team, which won a state championship during his time there. These experiences helped shape his early interest in the legal field.

He began his college education in New Orleans, where he engaged in community work, including volunteering with a nonprofit that mentors young boys who have lost their fathers. He later transferred and completed his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law in December 2017.

Before entering law school, he gained experience across legal settings. He worked as a paralegal at a business immigration law firm on Wall Street, where he learned about the inner workings of complex immigration matters. He also interned at the New York County Supreme Court Civil Branch, supporting judicial functions and observing legal procedures.

These roles gave him early exposure to litigation and administrative processes, providing a strong foundation for his legal education.

In 2018, Attorney Ethan Ruby began his legal studies at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Cardozo Mediation Clinic, where he mediated civil and small claims cases in New York courts.

Ethan also served as an Associate Editor for the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal, where he further developed his legal research and writing skills. His public interest experience included internships at legal aid and public defense organizations, reflecting his dedication to service-based legal work.

After graduating in May 2021 and passing the New York Bar that same year, he began practicing in labor law, negligence defense, and insurance litigation.

He began his career as a Law Clerk at a firm handling personal injury and general negligence cases. His responsibilities included drafting pleadings, preparing discovery responses, assisting with depositions, and negotiating with insurance companies.

In December 2021, he joined another firm as an Associate, where he focused on labor law and general negligence defense for insurance and construction clients. His work involved motion drafting, discovery management, medical record review, and client communication.

In January 2023, he transitioned to a new firm, where he managed a larger caseload involving labor law and tort matters. These cases often involved significant financial exposure and complex risk-transfer arrangements. His role included conducting depositions, court appearances, arguments on motions, and site inspections.

In September 2024, Ethan joined National Claim Services LLC, a division of CRC Insurance Services, as a Senior Claim Specialist. In this position, he combines his legal and insurance expertise to manage complex claims related to Labor Law, bodily injury, property damage, and construction incidents.

He works closely with insured parties, outside counsel, and investigators to guide claims from start to resolution. His responsibilities include evaluating liability, coordinating litigation strategy, identifying opportunities for risk transfer, and resolving claims through mediation, arbitration, or trial.

Ethan is admitted to practice law in New York and holds licenses as an Independent Insurance Adjuster, Certified Public Notary, and Real Estate Salesperson. He continues to complete continuing legal education to stay up to date with current legal and industry standards.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, he enjoys skiing, playing basketball, and visiting national parks when time allows.

Ethan Ruby continues to apply his legal knowledge and insurance experience to support clients, resolve complex claims, and contribute meaningfully within the legal and insurance fields.
