Frederick Samp was employed for 17 years at Bangor Hydro-Electric Company, at the time a publicly traded electric utility serving Central and Eastern Maine and Maine’s second largest electric utility. He served as General Counsel, overseeing regulatory and legal matters for the Company, and later as Vice President – Finance & Law. In the latter
role, Samp acted as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for all regulatory, legal, finance, treasury, accounting and electric transmission services at the Company. He left Bangor Hydro-Electric Company following its merger with Emera Inc. Before working at Bangor Hydro-Electric Company, Samp practiced law for approximately 10 years both in the private sector and as a government attorney employed by the Maine Public Utilities Commission. He is a graduate of Middlebury College (BA 1972) and the University of Maine School of Law (JD 1975).
