Edgar ringer studied at the University of Erlangen Materials Science and habilitated in the art crystallography. In May 2000, he came as a senior scientist at DESY, 2004, he became head of the PETRA III project and in 2008 was appointed to the Board. He is a member of the DESY Directorate, since January of 2008.
