From 2004 to 2008, Ed Rubenstein served as senior vice president at MGI PHARMA/Eisai, with responsibilities including business & commercial development, in-licensing, due diligence of company acquisitions, partnering/alliance management, strategic medical marketing, and medical & scientific affairs (drug information, development
of key opinion leaders, scientific communications, medical education, postmarket research, health outcomes & pharmacoeconomics). He also was an officer on the management teams responsible for research, clinical development, life-cycle management, and corporate strategic planning.
Prior to joining the MGI management team, Dr Rubenstein was an internationally recognized leader in cancer supportive care. He spent 18 years at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he was a tenured full professor and held a number of leadership roles, including founder and director of the Ambulatory & Supportive Care Oncology Research Program, chief of Medical Supportive Care, vice president of Risk Management, and vice president of the Institutional Review Board. Dr Rubenstein also is professor at The University of Texas School of Public Health in Management and Policy Sciences.
Dr Rubenstein is a graduate of Wilkes College, Hahnemann Medical College and completed his residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in Cardiovascular Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine, and a graduate of the Rice Business School Executive Development Program.
