O.R. (Ed) Barham Jr., age 65, is a new addition to BVA as director and Chief Executive Officer in August 2015. He has 35 years of extensive leadership in the banking industry. Most recently, Ed served as CEO of StellarOne, a $3.1 Billion community bank, from 2008 until 2013. Prior to StellarOne, Ed held successive CEO roles including CEO of
Virginia Financial Group from 2002 to 2008, CEO of Virginia Commonwealth Financial Corporation from 1998 to 2002, and CEO of Second Bank & Trust from 1996 to 1998. He began his career at Bank of America where he held credit and lending positions in Greensboro, Asheville, Raleigh, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Beyond Ed’s banking leadership roles, he has served as a leader in the industry and community. This includes the Virginia Banker’s Association where he held numerous committee seats over 20 years and was scheduled as the in-coming Chairman in June 2013. Other board and leadership positions include Bankers’ Insurance, Virginia Title Agency, Culpeper Regional Hospital (past Chair of Finance Committee and Treasurer), Culpeper Chamber of Commerce (past member and President), and Culpeper Presbyterian Church (member, past session member and member of the Building Fund Committee).
