Dr. Fakhri Karray, a renowned expert in computational intelligence and soft computing, serves as our CEO and Chairman of the Board. He founded Vestec to commercialize research findings in interactive speech and Natural Language Understanding developed under his supervision at Canada’s famed University of Waterloo.
In addition, Dr. Karray serves
as University Research Chair Professor in the field of Intelligent Systems at the University of Waterloo, and as the co-Director of the Center for Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (PAMI) Laboratories, a leading research center in the field of Intelligent Systems.
He has written over 300 scientific articles, holds 14 U.S. patents, and has authored a seminal textbook in the field of Soft Computing. Dr. Karray has also chaired numerous international scientific conferences and received several national and international awards for his work in the field of computational intelligence.
He is a trusted advisor to several of Canada’s leading corporations and entrepreneurs on technology development.
Dr. Karray holds a PhD in Systems and Control from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
