Douglas Schmidt is a successful investor, manager and entrepreneur. Drawing on his extensive management, consulting and finance expertise, Doug frequently works with small and mid-size businesses to help them achieve their growth goals. Doug has developed a strong expertise in general management, growth financing and networking and has worked with
small and mid sized businesses in a wide variety of industries, notably in media, healthcare and technology.
Prior to becoming a founder of Medifr, Doug was the transitioning CEO of Itrica - a company that got better outcomes faster for Phase III clinical trials. Prior to that, Doug worked at MUNCmedia with a particular focus on business and corporate development as well as day-to-day operations, successfully incubating and launching partnerships into PRN, NASDAQ and NYSE. MUNCmedia was the first Information network with over 90 million retail investors spanning hundreds of newspapers, financial magazines and portals. Prior to that, Doug was a founding partner of UCARE, a social network focused on “do-gooders” which was closely aligned with the Good Deed Foundation comprising more than 130 million constituents.
Prior to that, Doug helped create the International Children’s Television Network production of the Magic Tent, the first indigenous children’s program for the Indian subcontinent with the help of the same creative team behind the Muppets, Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss. Before working moving into industry, Doug spent 15 years working on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch, Furman Selz and ING Barings. Doug is a Business graduate of the University of North Carolina and sits as director or advisor of several start ups in emerging media, healthcare and education.
