Don Clauson started in the self-storage business in 1991 with Sperry Van Ness, where he represented buyers and sellers in excess of $200 million in transactions of operating self-storage facilities and land to be developed for self-storage. In 1999, Don and his business partner, Randy Strauss, formed Strat Property Management, Inc. (SPMI), a
management company specializing in self-storage.
Starting with just 5 storage facilities, the portfolio has grown to 40 storage facilities between Texas and California. Don was previously a regional board member of the SSA, and is an active board member and current President of the self-storage Large Operator Council (LOC).
