Dr. Dawn Kum - Consulting Firm President and Founder As the president of Integrated Urban Solutions, LLC, Dr. Dawn Kum is responsible for all the operations of the consulting firm. Since 2015, she has overseen service delivery to clients seeking administrative, training, general development, educational, curriculum, and program development
solutions. Her clients include private, federal, and local government agencies. Before Urban Solutions, Dr Dawn Kum was the chief executive officer of the Village Academy of Maryland (VAMD) for 17 years.
She founded the private school to serve youth 14 to 17 years old with special needs, including emotional and learning disabilities and conduct disorders. The primary aim of VAMD was to provide state-approved high school learning programs, career technical education, and therapeutic and behavioral modification services. The institution achieved an over 85 percent high school diploma graduation rate. Dr. Dawn Kum also worked as a principal investigator (PI) for the Howard University School of Education from 2002 to 2006 and as executive director of the Professional Development Schools Project in the same institution from 2001 to 2003. She currently sits on the board of directors of Cedar Hill Hospital in Washington, D.C., and the board of Education Advisory Committee on Communication and Community Engagement for Montgomery County Public Schools.
