David joined ISIS in 1995, became Managing Director in 1997 and Chairman in 2001. He was also Chairman of the BVCA in 2000-2001. After a natural sciences degree at Queens' College, Cambridge, David worked at Alcan as a product engineer before completing an MBA at the London Business School. He joined 3i in 1971 and over the next 20 years
worked across the UK and was one of the pioneers of management buyouts in 1977.
He subsequently chaired two venture-backed companies, both of which floated on the Stock Exchange.
David launched the Baronsmead VCT in 1995 and there are now five VCTs in the 'Baronsmead Family'. He became chairman of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) VCT forum on its inception in autumn 2006.
Outside the office, sport has always been a passion for David: 50 years of 'opening the batting' has recently made way for more competitive tennis. He is married and has three sons who are all now carving out their own business careers.
