David Shields is a General Partner of Accede. Prior to Accede, David was the head of Deutsche Bank Capital Partners in Australia from 1993 to 2005. Under his leadership, he won and retained the largest private equity mandate in Australia and grew FUM for private equity from $325M to over $2B. David has worked on scores of transactions which have
realised well over $1B of returns for investors spanning the full spectrum of private equity transactions including venture capital, expansion capital and infrastructure.
David has served as a Director and chaired numerous Boards including CEA, APAC and Mediherb. Prior to DB, David was an Executive Director at Advent, Director Investments and Advisory at AIDC and Managing Director of the listed venture capital company Australia Pacific Technology Ltd. In the early 1980's David established and managed a portfolio of private equity investments for the Pratt family.
David holds a BE (Hons) from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Melbourne University.
