A surgical oncologist with >30 years of experience of laboratory research including microbiology and cancer cell biology, drug and device development. I graduated from the University of Birmingham, UK, MBChB. in 1975. I completed FRCS in 1979 (London and Edinburgh) and went on to complete an MD at the University of Birmingham in 1983. In 1986 I
received my PhD from the University of Nottingham, where I was the first to study Albendazole as a treatment for human hydatid disease. I moved to Sydney in 1990 to Chair of Surgery at St George Hospital for the University of New South Wales.
I established a liver cancer unit at St George Hospital, the largest in Australia and later went on to provide peritoneal malignancy surgery. I have since performed over 1500 of these highly complex procedures. My unit is considered among the best in the world for peritoneal diseases. I am on the board for the worldwide peritoneal malignancy group, PSOGI.
