David Mimran is the co-founder of Mimran Schur Pictures, an independent film production company. He currently serves as Mimran Schur’s co-chairman alongside former Geffen Records president Jordan Schur. In this role, he’s committed to producing exceptional films that span a wide range of genres and styles.
Mimran and Schur founded Mimran Schur
Pictures in 2009. Since 2010, they have shepherded several critically acclaimed films to release. Their first two films, the Robert De Niro psychological thriller Stone and the Keanu Reeves black comedy Henry’s Crime, debuted to favorable reviews at the Toronto Film Festival. The company’s third film, Warrior, earned veteran actor Nick Nolte an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of an alcoholic former fighting champion.
Mimran Schur Pictures is in pre- and post-production on several promising titles. In the coming months, the company expects to release The Kid, a Chris Pratt film set in the Wild West and focusing on a fateful encounter between a young boy and famed outlaw Billy the Kid.
David Mimran is not a lifelong film producer. Since the early 1990s, he has held positions of escalating responsibility in the business world, beginning with a two-year stint as president and CEO of Italian food manufacturer Arrigoni Group. Subsequently Mimran held executive leadership roles with Eurafrique, Sometra, and Cavpa before relocating to the United States in 2003.
Following his move, Mimran spent more than five years in senior leadership roles with three boutique financial firms: Milestone Merchant Partners (MMP), Milestone Capital Management (later Blackstreet Capital Management), and Breeden Partners, L.P., which he co-founded. Mimran was the largest individual shareholder in MMP and Milestone Capital Management.
David Mimran is an active board member of Teranga Gold Corporation, a publicly traded mining concern firm based in Canada. He previously served on the board of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), an American agricultural conglomerate. At ADM, Mimran sat on the audit committee and the executive committee. For a time, Mimran was the largest individual outside shareholder in ADM.
Mimran is also a director of Groupe Mimran and a key executive with four of its subsidiaries: Grands Moulins d’Abidjan (GMA), Miminvest S.A., Grands Moulins de Dakar (GMD), and Mimran Natural Resources S.A. (MNR).
When not spearheading the production of exciting new film concepts, David Mimran devotes considerable time to advising charitable organizations and NGOs around the world. Among other roles, he is a current member of the board of trustees of New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital. He is also a patron and board member of Artists for Peace and Justice, a global nonprofit that fights conflict with creativity. And he remains a governor of the Peres Center for Peace, an Israeli nonprofit devoted to promoting peace in the Middle East.
In a personal capacity, Mimran supports a variety of U.S. and international charities, including the Make a Wish Foundation, AMFAR, and Save the Children.
