An architect of innovative super tall towers and future cities, David Malott is the CEO and creative director of AI.—a multidisciplinary design agency exploring the intersection of architecture and technology. David led the architecture and engineering team behind the 600-meter tall Ping An Finance Center in Shenzhen, recognized for the smart and
sustainable innovations which underscore its record-breaking height. He is the current Chairman of CTBUH and a member of the CTBUH Board of Trustees since 2012.
David co-founded AI with directors and seniors who emerged from KPF, where for over a decade, they excelled in the design and realization of some of the firm’s most exciting and challenging work. Since its inception in 2017, AI has scored significant tall building commissions in major cities across China and Asia totaling over fifteen million square feet in design and construction.
David started his career at Nikken Sekkei in Japan in 1996 prior to joining KPF in New York, where as a design principal he worked on many of KPF's signature large-scale projects around the world, including three of the world’s tallest towers. He is a registered architect in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
A graduate of MIT, David brings to architecture an understanding of the transformative power of technology. He sees buildings as not only constructs of form, space, and material — but as living architecture capable of responsiveness and empathy — that ultimately, will connect us to our environment, and to each other.
