David Gu joined Lightspeed in 2009 and is involved with a number of portfolio companies including Dianping and iHaveu.com. He focuses on Lightspeed’s investment efforts in China across multiple sectors: Internet, mobile, enterprise software, consumer services, and cleantech.
Prior to Lightspeed, David worked as project leader at The Boston
Consulting Group in Shanghai, focusing on various industries including consumer goods, industrial goods and energy. He helped multiple clients develop China growth and turn-around strategies, identify new business opportunities and M&A targets, and conduct commercial due diligence.
Prior to BCG, David worked as senior and principal consultant at IBM & PwC, focusing on SAP software implementation. As a top performer, David became one of the youngest principal consultants at PwC in China. In addition, he worked as the only PwC China employee in Malmo, Sweden on a two-year global project, where he led an international development team on-site.
David holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
