David served as Group Chief Information Officer and Head of Operations and Transformation at DBS Bank for 11 years until 2019. In this role, and as member of the Group Executive Committee, he led an organisation of 12,000 colleagues, including all of Technology and the Transformation team that drove much of the change agenda at the company
including Customer Journey Thinking, Innovation, Data Science, and Culture Transformation. Under David’s leadership, the bank consistently drove great value from technology, and deeply transformed its culture into a truly Digital led company. DBS is widely renowned for its Digital Transformation, recognized over the last 5 years by Euromoney, Global Finance and The Banker as the “World’s Best Bank”, and Harvard Business Review as one of the top 10 global strategic transformations of the decade. In 2017, David received the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan Global CIO Leadership Award, becoming the first CIO from an Asian company to have received the award. In further recognition of his deep technical knowledge, in 2018 David was appointed to the Singapore Government’s ministerial level Public Sector Data Security Review Committee, which was responsible for defining new data security policies and practices across all Public Services in Singapore. David has over 35 years of experience in the financial service industry and spent over 30 years in Asia. Prior to joining DBS in 2008, he worked at JP Morgan for 20 years, holding senior regional positions in Technology & Operations. David’s previous roles also include Director of Singapore Clearing House Pte Ltd, member of IBM Advisory Board, Group COO for Lloyds Bank as well as a member of the Singapore National Super Computing Centre Steering Committee. David is a Non-Executive Director of Singapore Airlines and Santander UK, Board Member of National University of Singapore (NUS) Institute of Systems Science, and a Senior Advisor to McKinsey&Co., in addition to other senior advisory positions.
