David Brown is the co-founder and CEO of BroadBit Batteries (www.broadbit.com: novel, high performance sodium based batteries) and has been a Fulbright Fellow (atmospheric physics) and a co-founder and former CEO of Canatu (carbon nanomaterial based electronics, sensing, optics, NASDAQ IPO 2024), Teicos Pharma (Formulation of pharmaceuticals for
delivery to the lungs), Almakor (Optical fiber manufacturing processes) and StreamWise (Computer simulation of gas/particle systems). He has raised and managed over 40M$ and brought multiple technologies from concept to commercial use.
He has more than 150 scientific articles, 300 granted and pending patents and 150 invited talks on, for instance, batteries, thin film electronics, entrepreneurship, nanotechnology, synthesis and deposition of nanomaterials, drug delivery and formulation, nuclear energy and nuclear safety, atmospheric physics and modeling and algorithms for designing and characterizing materials and aerosol processes. He has also worked as an advisor and independent contractor for many important technology players including Honda, Du Pont, Daikin, Kemira, NASA, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Finnish National Research Centre (VTT) and the Paul Scherrer Institute.
