David is the founder and Executive Director of Earth Economics, a non-profit organization with a vision to improve the economy by integrating ecosystem service analysis into investment decision-making.
David has over 20 years experience in international lending and lending policy. He has met the top officials and Executive Directors of
multilateral development banks, export credit agencies, bilateral aid agencies, finance ministries and private banks. He helped improve the lending criteria for the US Export Import Bank and the export credit agencies of 34 other nations. He also helped improve the energy, forest, information, environmental assessment, indigenous peoples, corruption, inspection panel and governance policies of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Inter American Development Bank to strengthen the success of their lending. In April, 2009, David attended World Bank/IMF spring meetings in Washington, DC with finance ministers from around the world. Private firms were not allowed in these meetings.
David grew up in Washington State, graduated from Pacific Lutheran University majoring in biology and geology. He received an economics MS degree at Louisiana State University under Herman Daly. David has worked in the coal and oil industries, for Greenpeace International, at the World Bank and as Executive Director of Earth Economics.
