Based in New York City, Dr. David Banthin has owned Banthin Psychological Services, PLLC, since 2023. He provides an array of psychological and psychoanalytic treatments to individuals and couples, focusing primarily on psychodynamic approaches. However, he also integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness
as needed. As the owner of the practice, Dr. Banthin is also responsible for all administrative processes.
Dr. Banthin balances his work as a private practice psychologist and psychoanalyst with his academic work at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is also involved with several professional organizations, including the Military Suicide Research Consortium, the Society for Psychotherapy Research, and the North American Society for the Study of Personality Disorders.
A clinical psychology graduate of The New School for Social Research, Dr. Banthin also completed a four-year psychoanalysis program at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology, in addition to internships and fellowships at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (Bronx, NY), the Icahn School of Medicine, the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, and Behavioral Tech (for training in dialectical behavior therapy).
