Darrell Spivey helps companies build data systems they can rely on.
His path into analytics started in SEO, where he became curious about how search behavior reveals customer intent. That interest led him deeper into the technical side of marketing, including relational databases and SQL, and eventually to roles where he could apply those skills
at scale.
At iFly, an indoor skydiving company, Spivey led a migration to a modern analytics infrastructure. He implemented Google Analytics 4, connected it to BigQuery, and designed an event schema that captured user interactions more effectively. He also built Looker dashboards that gave stakeholders visibility into acquisition trends, user behavior, and campaign performance. One project he developed was a system that tracked customers through different phases of engagement and informed ad targeting strategies. Additional personalization work based on those phases was still in development when his contract concluded.
Before iFly, Spivey spent several years at Status Labs, a digital reputation management firm, where his responsibilities expanded alongside the solutions he built. Hired as an SEO specialist, he created reporting tools that automated parts of his workflow, which created capacity to address broader operational needs. Sales operations had manual reporting processes; he automated them. Sales teams needed competitive insights for client conversations; he built tools that aggregated relevant data. Over time, the company formalized his expanded role, and he served as both Senior SEO Specialist and Sales Operations Manager, holding both positions simultaneously.
Earlier in his career, after graduating with a marketing degree, Spivey gained experience through internships, freelance work, and a structured apprenticeship program. There he learned SEO, content strategy, and how to use Adobe creative tools, while also gaining insight into workplace expectations and professional communication. That foundation led to his first full-time role at Status Labs.
Today, Spivey focuses on building systems that help companies make better use of their data. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and is a licensed skydiver. He is currently exploring new opportunities in data analysis.
