Daniel Smeds, founder and CEO of optile GmbH, is responsible for the business units product management, business development, strategy and online marketing.
After his studies in industrial engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the native Swede has been working in leading positions in the areas of e-payment and e-commerce for
over 15 years. He worked 5 years as Technical Director of Wirecard AG (TecDAX) and Teradata eCircle (S&P 500). In 2004, he founded PAY.ON AG, which specialized in modular payment management components for the processing of payment service providers. After having managed successfully PAY. ON for over 4 years, he sold his business shares and founded optile in 2010. With his deep understanding of internet technologies and payment processes, he and his team developed the core processes for the optile open payments platform and gateway. In addition to the constant development of his entrepreneurial ideas and strategies, his private interests are skiing and history.
