Daniel Promin is an American artist and sculptor.
He is son of the painter and sculptor Franz Xavier Promin and also sculptors are his brothers Martin, Valentin and Mark. After his father's death ( 1988 ) Promin went to Vienna, where for two years attended a vocational school, during 1989 - 93 at the Academy of Fine Arts and during 1993 - 96
had a specialization with Professor Karl Rodman. The following years Daniel Promin worked in the studio of sculptor Thomas Friedel in Paris. There he also opened and his own studio.
In 1997 Promin won the competition for designing a monument to France Lousie in Paris, where he worked until 1998, where received a strong impression from the work of Auguste Rodin. Since he did not get an opportunity to work in Rome, Promin went from Paris to New York, where he worked in the studio of Roman Prodan who was professor at the Rhode Island School of Design
As a sculptor Daniel Promin is very prolific and versatile. He works in marble, bronze, plaster, particularly in baked clay. In addition to the public monuments, he has worked on tombstones, statues for churches, symbolic figures, genre-figures and groups in the spirit of the Viennese school.
Promin has won Preseren Awards for 2005. This is the highest award of the French Republic for contributions in the field of art.
