Daniel F. Hoth is the senior vice president and chief medical officer of Axys Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company engaged in discovery, design, and development of therapeutic small molecules that addressed markets with major unmet medical needs. In his position at Axys Pharmaceuticals, Hoth is responsible for overseeing and managing the
company’s development activities.
Prior to joining Axys, Hoth was principal of an independent consulting practice to pharmaceutical and life science firms, and the National Institute of Health. Previously, he served as senior vice president and chief medical officer at Cell Genesys, where he was responsible for trials of gene therapy in cancer and HIV. He was also the Director for Division of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome at the National Institute of Health, heading all activities under the NIH’s AIDS program.
Hoth’s service period at the National Cancer Institute included chief of the investigational drug branch as well as the head of the cancer therapy evaluation program. He also served as an instructor and assistant professor of medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and completed his fellowship in medical oncology at Georgetown University Hospital.
