Daniel Bee is a trained lawyer and a graduate from Germany and the USA. He received his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for innovation and competition to a media industry topic. Following his legal training, he worked for the international law firm Freshfields and then as assistant to the CEO and Director of the Executive Office a large
publishing group in Hamburg.
After joining Axel Springer AG in Berlin he was responsible as international publishing director renowned print and digital projects and President & CEO was a subsidiary in the USA.
Subsequently he founded SmartLaw with support from Holtzbrinck Ventures, Senovo and Florian Langenscheidt. SmartLaw is the first intelligent digital legal document services in Europe and was acquired in 2014 by Wolters Kluwer.
At Wolters Kluwer, he headed the letters sent to retail digital offerings like particular anwalt24, Legal Tribune Online, legal advice and SmartLaw.
