Twenty-five years’ experience in senior management positions in the Altron Group. Craig Venter first joined Altech in 1988 as Commercial Manager at Altech Components Distribution (01/11/1988 – 31/08/1989), later assuming the position of Managing Director at Pace Electronics, for a period of two years (01/09/1989 –
28/02/1991). The transformation of Pace Electronics into a profitable business unit secured his promotion to Group Executive: Altech Components Distribution Division and Group Executive: Altech Data (01/03/1991 – 28/02/1992) where he had responsibility for all of Altech’s component distribution companies. In 1992 he was promoted to Group Executive: Altech Electronics Distribution Group (01/03/1992 – 28/02/1993).
The restructuring of Altech in 1993 led to Craig’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer of the Altech Industrial Group (AIG), one of Altech’s three core operating groups. In September 1996, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Allied Technologies Limited (Altech), a Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed company. In August 2013, Altron, Altech’s holding company, announced the creation of a new Telecommunications, Multi-media and Information (TMT) organisation that incorporates both Altech and Bytes, the other large grouping of companies in the Altron stable. This led to the delisting of Altech in August 2013. Craig heads up this division as Group Executive: Altron TMT, but continues to lead the Altech Group as Chief Executive Officer.
