Mr. Friedman is a Managing Director of HPS. Prior to joining HPS in 2008, Mr. Friedman was a Senior Managing Director with Bear Stearns and the founding partner of the Growth Equity Business.
Mr. Friedman brings over 30 years of private equity, venture capital, investment, financial, technical and media expertise to the Growth Equity
Business. Mr. Friedman currently serves as a director to Net Insight AB, Verance Corp., Wasserman Media Group and supports HPS’ media-based investments, including Digital Cinema Implementation Partners.
Additionally, Mr. Friedman has served as a director, chairman of, and/or advisor to the following companies: Hibernia Atlantic, Widevine Technology, SAVVIS Communications, MTM Technologies, CSTV, TV One, Gospel Music Channel, Geary Interactive, Capital IQ, Active Health Management, The Street.com, Network 24, Origin Digital, Vivid Logic, TV Azteca (Mexico’s second largest broadcast network), Netscape and InterTrust.
Previously, Mr. Friedman was a Senior Vice President at Universal Studios and a Vice President of Strategic Development at NBC. He began his career as a Senior Engineer at Hazeltine Corporation. Mr. Friedman published “New Age Media--The Merging of Media, Communications, Computing and Consumer Electronics” in 1993 and a follow-on publication, “New Age Media II,” in 1994.
He has been awarded two patents in the field of communications and has been published in various international technical and financial journals.
Mr. Friedman serves on the board of trustees of Huntington Hospital and is a past recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
Mr. Friedman has an MBA in Finance and Investments from Adelphi University and an MS in Electrophysics and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Polytechnic Institute of New York.
