Claudio Sposito is the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clessidra (www.clessidrasgr.it), the management company of Clessidra Capital Partners (€820 million) and Clessidra Capital Partners II (€1.4 billion). Clessidra is the largest private equity company with a country focus on Italy.
Prior to forming Clessidra, Mr. Sposito was
Chief Executive Officer of Fininvest S.p.A., the holding company of the Fininvest Group, one of the largest Italian private investment companies, from October 1998 until May 2003. As CEO of the Fininvest Group, Mr. Sposito was responsible for the strategic design and execution of the group’s reorganisation, which, through a number of large restructurings, divestitures and acquisitions, led to the complete and successful redefinition of one of the largest investment portfolios in Italy.
Prior to joining Fininvest, Mr. Sposito was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley & Co., where he was Head of Investment Banking in Italy for more than ten years.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Sposito worked for other leading international financial institutions including Barclays Bank, Citibank and Standard Chartered.
Mr. Sposito received an M.B.A. from the American University in Washington, D.C. in 1983, and a B.A. from the University of Rome with a degree in Architecture in 1978. He speaks Italian, English and Spanish.
