Indulging curiosity since 1979; I travel, climb, ski, and draw. That’s my life in a nutshell. Early in my career, I noticed my best ideas came when I was both relaxed and invigorated while outdoors or in a foreign land. Since, I’ve created a nomadic lifestyle of design, entrepreneurship, and adventure. After over a decade and 55+ trips overseas for
design research, product development, and a hell of a lot of fun, I’m still going.
Successful products are the result of perfect function and successful manipulation of form, color, texture, and experience. As a designer, I approach every project with this in mind. “How do I manipulate the physical world, a business plan, or my pencil to create the best possible emotional experience for my customer?”
Good products emulate the brand story and support the business plan, not only with costs and timelines but also as unique and silent provocateurs. Each product should grow from the original story of the brand. How can your product provoke questions related to the brand and its unique story?
A successful business lifts everyone involved. My favorite part of design is interacting with the talented people in my supply chain. When they are empowered and respected we all succeed. So I also ask; “How can I best interact with my supply chain to create a positive experience for all of us?”
