Chuck Morrison serves as Staymobile® President and COO, leading the company’s marketing, operations and franchise support. Prior to his role at Staymobile, Morrison served as founder, president and CEO of MoRisen Records & Hot But Sour Music Publishing, an independent record label and music publishing company since 2002. He also has an
extensive background in brand development, product development and marketing, overseeing the sales cycle of products from ideation to retail at HiREV, LLC., a company he co-founded in 1997.
Background
As a National Advertising Manager at Street & Smith Sports Group Chuck honed his sports marketing acumen, working with major brands such as Anheuser-Busch, Ford, Chevrolet, NASCAR, GM, Topps Trading Cards, and NAPA. Chuck co-created the NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year award, and developed numerous advertising driven inserts for NASCAR Scene Magazine that substantially increased revenue while delivering an expanded audience for the participating sponsors and brands.
Building on this marketing and promotions expertise in the world of professional sports, Chuck founded Hi-Rev, a company that invented, merchandised, packaged, and distributed NASCAR and sports-licensed products and collectibles to major retailers such as QVC, Office Depot, and EB Games, as well as 1,200+ independent retail stores and corporate race sponsors that use products in consumer promotions and point-of-sale displays. In addition to creating products, Chuck worked with the elite NASCAR teams and drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Jimmie Johnson to license his patented products and promote them through retail and corporate channels.
Chuck developed consumer promotions utilizing his products for Pepsi, Anheuser-Busch, Miler Brewing Company, CAT, R.J. Reynolds, and Coca-Cola. He also sourced the manufacturing and traveled extensively to China where his products were made, decorated and packaged. Major brands, such MagLite Flashlights and Coleman Outdoors, took notice of Chuck’s expertise and partnered with him to license and distribute their products through his retail and corporate promotion channels.
Looking for a new challenge in location-based entertainment and online media Chuck pursued a lifelong passion and founded MoRisen Records, an independent record label and music publishing company. MoRisen released 20 records and was an early adopter of digital distribution and social media to build and grow artists’ audiences. Through exceptional relationship-building skills Chuck signed a co-publishing deal with Lionsgate Films and BMI, and his artists’ songs have appeared in movies such as “Employee of the Month” starring Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson, “Waiting” starring Ryan Reynolds, and “Happily Never After” starring Sigourney Weaver.
In all Chuck placed over 60 tracks in film and in TV in such shows as “The OC,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Greek,” “Without a Trace,” and “Malcom in the Middle.” These efforts created a new revenue model for the label and the artists without having to solely rely on record sales. By generating enormous publicity and awareness through digital distribution and music publishing deals, MoRisen Records created and produced numerous events, shows, and tours where tens of thousands of people watched MoRisen Records’ artists perform. Chuck led panel discussions at the annual CMJ Music Festival in New York, as well as at the prestigious South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.
In 2011, building on Chuck’s 20 years of branding, marketing, public relations consumer promotions, retail and online expertise, Chuck provided marketing consulting services and worked to ignite, launch, and build brands for clients such as Monkey Joe’s, Fetha Styx Fishing Rods, Linet Americas, Good Kitchen Mobile Gourmet, and The Body Wrench.
Chuck launched the Fetha Styx Fishing Rods brand at the 2011 iCast Trade Show where he designed and built the display island, and led all trade show marketing efforts resulting in multiple retail distribution outlets for the upstart brand. He also launched Fetha Styx into the Bass market and landed Bassmaster Elite Rookie of the Year runner-up Andy Montgomery to a sponsorship deal resulting in immediate awareness and retail sales opportunities throughout the Southeast.
Chuck is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and has two children, a daughter, Dargan, and a son, Baker. Chuck has coached youth basketball and baseball for 20 years and now enjoys coaching his son’s teams, as well as 2 other youth basketball teams.
