My career focus has been on commercializing the fruits of research, be it corporate (e.g. American Hospital Corporation), academic (e.g. Stanford, Princeton, and University of Washington), or private research institutions (e.g. SRI International).
Driving innovation from the lab to market requires cross-cultural and interdisciplinary efforts. It
also requires persistence, optimism, vision, and leadership. As a founder and leader of numerous technology startups in areas from photonics to tissue engineering to medical devices, I've been fortunate to enjoy the company of great scientists, engineers, managers, and investors.
I can't bear to see a valuable and important technology languish on the shelf !
