Mr. Pappano joined M-III Partners in 2015 as a Managing Director focused on all facets of the firm’s investment strategy. Prior to joining M-III, Mr. Pappano served as a Managing Director of Richmond Hill Investment Co., LP., a New York-based multi-strategy, fundamental value fund, from 2008 – 2015. While at Richmond Hill, Mr. Pappano served on the
three-person Investment Committee and led investments in public equities, distressed debt, private loans and derivatives. Mr. Pappano also served on the Management Committee of three of Richmond Hill’s private real estate partnerships.
Prior to 2008, Mr. Pappano was a Partner at Barington Capital Group, a New York-based small-cap activist fund. While at Barington, Mr. Pappano executed activist investments in a variety of corporate situations, including The Stride Rite Corporation (formerly NYSE:SRR), Warnaco Group, Inc. (formerly NYSE:WRC), The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE:PBY), Red Lion Hotels Corporation (NYSE:RLH), Florida East Coast Industries, Inc. (formerly NYSE:FLA), and Dillard’s Inc. (NYSE:DDS). Mr. Pappano also served on the Board of Register.com (formerly Nasdaq:RCOM), a domain name registrar, from 2007-2008 after the company was taken private by an investor group led by Vector Capital and Barington Capital.
Prior to Barington, Mr. Pappano was Vice President of Greenhill & Co., LLC, a New York-based merchant bank specializing in M&A and restructuring advisory, where he spent 7 years and joined the firm as a Financial Analyst. While at Greenhill, Mr. Pappano executed advisory assignments, including acquisitions and sales of public and private companies/subsidiaries, joint ventures, leveraged buyouts and spin-offs. Mr. Pappano closed transactions for Electronic Data Systems Corporation (formerly NYSE:EDS), The Berkshire Realty Company (formerly NYSE:BRI), Tenneco Inc. (NYSE:TEN), and TriNet Corporate Realty Trust, Inc. (formerly NYSE:TRI).
