An Esteemed Career As the present-day CEO of Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), a globally recognized sleep company, Charles Eitel sets the pace in the industry with his unique blend of innovation, brand development, and emphasis on quality. With his astute understanding of SSB's competitive environment and his deep relationships with retailers and suppliers, Eitel provides robust guidance to SSB's thousands of associates.

Eitel's stewardship at SSB is noteworthy because this is his second stint at the company. He initially served as CEO of Simmons Bedding from 2000 to 2008, during which time the company experienced significant growth and firmly positioned itself as a pioneer in global sleep solutions. After his CEO tenure, Eitel continued with Simmons as Vice Chairman from 2008 to 2010.

Before rejoining SSB, Eitel served as Chief Operating Officer for Cenergistic, an environmental services organization that collaborates with various institutions to leverage utility savings. He was also the CEO and Chairman of WS Packaging Group, one of North America's largest printing and label-converting operators. Before that, he served as president and COO of Interface, Inc., where he led the company's global expansion and became a leading innovator in carpet tile. Similarly, as President and CEO of Collins & Aikman Floorcoverings, Inc., Eitel utilized his insight and guidance to steer the company toward success.

Eitel does not rest on his laurels. As a testament to his commitment to continuous learning and growth, he has written three books, which he has shared with the former CEOs of seven companies.

After leaving the company in November, Eitel was redoing it in the spring of 2023 to put a management team in place to turn it around.

He previously chaired the International Sleep Products Association (ISPA).
