Businessman and Investor Charles Nabit

Prior to building a successful career as a business leader, Charles Nabit built a record of academic success as a student. While pursuing a bachelor of arts in English at the University of the South, he was recognized as an honors student, made the dean’s list, earned admittance to the Phi Beta Kappa honor

society, and become a member of the Order of Gownsmen Academic Society. In 1977, Charles (Chuck) Nabit graduated from the University of South with magna cum laude distinction.

Mr. Nabit continued his academic success as a student at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law (since renamed William & Mary Law School). On his way to earning his JD, he became a member of the Order of the Coif honor society and was a recipient of an American Jurisprudence Book Award. He also served as associate editor of the William & Mary Law Review. Charles Nabit maintained a 3.5 GPA over his time at the law school, from which he graduated ninth in a class of 134.

During his studies, Chuck Nabit volunteered as a legal aid representative. His commitment to giving back has extended into the present day. He manages the giving campaign of his family’s foundation, and he has served as a board member of historical, cultural, healthcare, and educational institutions, among them his undergraduate alma mater, the University of the South. He has also operated a mission-driven, seed-to-plate restaurant through in collaboration with the Living Classrooms Foundation.

Professionally, Charles Nabit is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Developmental Disability Management Services (DDMS). Under his direction, DDMS supported facilities in providing care to people with disabilities, becoming one of the country’s largest firms in this field. Today, he continues to work with healthcare companies as the chairman and chief executive officer of Southport Financial. Mr. Nabit also oversees an extensive investment portfolio as the managing partner of the Westport Group.
