Cathy Hackl is the Chief Metaverse Officer and Founder at Journey, Emmy-nominated broadcast journalist turned public relations professional and social media strategist. Cathy is helping brands from across the globe with their Periscope strategy through her consulting business, Socially Streaming. She is the PR director for Periscope Community
Summit/ New York Scope Week, the first user-generated conference for and by Periscope users. Cathy teaches Social Media Management at IE Business School, one of Europe’s top business schools.
She has spoken in the U.S. and internationally on communications and social media. Cathy will also start teaching as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Florida College of Journalism & Communications in 2016. She has more than 10 years of combined experience in PR, social media & communications and working in national and local media including outlets such as CNN, FOX5, Discovery Channel and ABC News.
She is experienced in social PR, media relations, internal communications, digital strategy, business-to-business, and business-to-consumer communications. Cathy has worked with clients in the technology, nonprofit, sustainability, hospitality, healthcare, commercial interior design and human resources sectors.
Cathy holds an MA in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and MS in Mass Communication from Florida International University, as well as BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Texas.
