Carter F. Bales is the Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board of NewWorld Capital Group, LLC. Carter Bales Co-Founded the firm in June 2009. From 1976 to 1996, Carter Bales was Head of McKinsey's worldwide consulting practice in media and communications. In that capacity, he served many of the leading communications, information and media companies in the United States, Europe and Japan on a broad range of business issues and opportunities. From June 1965 to June 1998, he served as a Director and served in various other senior positions at McKinsey & Company, Inc., He held senior level positions, including founding and leading the firm's worldwide practice in media and communications and leading the firm's practice in information technology. He held senior leadership positions, including founding the consultancy’s practices in environmental management, information industries, and state and local government and leading the information technology practice. He was a Member of McKinsey’s Board of Directors for seven years and, early in that period, led a project to redefine the Firm’s strategy. In 2007, he worked with McKinsey to produce the report entitled Reducing U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: How Much at What Cost? In 2008 and 2009, he worked with Project Catalyst and other initiatives in framing the economics of carbon abatement strategies and economics of environmental improvement strategies in the United States and elsewhere. He served as an Acting Assistant Budget Director of The City of New York, where he developed the City’s program budgeting system and led the development of New York’s air pollution, solid waste management, and water supply programs. He serves as a Director of Coolerado Corporation. Carter Bales is Chairman of the North Shore Land Alliance. He is a Trustee Emeritus at Cancer Research Institute, Inc. He is a Governor Emeritus and trustee of The Nature Conservancy and a trustee of the Grand Canyon Trust, a trustee of the Echoing Green Foundation, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He serves on the Boards of a number of leading environmental organizations, including The Center for Market Innovation at the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Advisory Council to Resources for the Future, and The Nature Conservancy. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the ClearPath Foundation. He served as a Member of Advisory Board at Ambienta SGR S.p.A. He served as a a Member of McKinsey's Advisory Council at McKinsey. He served as a Director of SBI.Razorfish, Inc. since March 1999 and Firstdoor, Inc. In past years, he was a Governor and Vice Chairman of The Nature Conservancy, President of Cancer Research Institute, a trustee of Union Theological Seminary, and a trustee of the Episcopal School in the City of New York. He has been active in environmental matters for more than 35 years. In recent years on environmental economics and how energy efficiency improvements can be achieved in cost-effective ways. Carter Bales is a recognized expert in the environmental field; he publishes articles and speaks regularly on the topic. His article, “Containing Climate Change” (co-authored with Rick Duke), appeared in Foreign Affairs (September-October 2008). Carter Bales has extensive experience in helping businesses strengthen competitive strategies, grow sales, improve profitability, and improve and scale operations. His career has focused heavily on strengthening business operations and helping companies build value for stakeholders. Carter Bales graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in Economics and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He received an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Skidmore College for his environmental leadership and also holds a Ph.D.
