Carolina C. Murphy - Founder and Managing Partner of MicroEmpowering inc. she a polymath that holds several patents and has extensive experience in raising funds and managing the day to day operations of organizations in the non-profit and private sectors.
Her relationship with technology started in 1994 when she was an HTML developer,
collaborating with former start-ups such as iFeminina, Ivox, Achei, Star Media, Obsidiana, amongst others. While attending college at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Carolina raised funds for "Projeto Genesis" one of the first start-up incubators in Latin America, from 1997 to 1999. She also worked for Brahma during it's multimillion dollar merger with Antartica, before the company became a billion dollar conglomerate (AB Imbev). Upon returning to technology she co-founded one of Brazil's first eBook publishers, later sold to a prominent publisher company and leader in E-Books.
Throughout her career, Carolina has lived in Brazil, Bangladesh, China, India, France, and the United States, she currently resides in New York City. Has a Masters in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University (SIPA) where she was a Teaching Assistant and received an Honor fellowship.
Carolina is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers - AEE, 85 Broads, and American Association for the Advancement of Science - AAAS.
