Carole Argo is a business professional, mother, caretaker and hard working woman who is determined to make a difference in the world around her. Argo has a history of enacting positive change within the organizations that she works for, bringing about not only the positive changes and opportunities within the organization itself, but also the
people within that organization.
Carole has experience in a number of different industries, but most recently in the nonprofit sector. After working for years building and maintaining businesses, as well as assisting with mergers and acquisitions, Argo transitioned to the world of nonprofits with her eyes set on changing the lives of the less fortunate. Currently, she holds a position at the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA), working with developmentally disabled adults to provide them with the care, support and treatment they deserve.
Developmentally disabled individuals are four to ten times more likely to be a victim of a crime in America. There’s also an increased likelihood that those with a disability will commit such crimes. These statistics are what prompted Carole to take action. She and the NCIA hope that by working with individuals with physical, intellectual and emotional barriers, that they will be able to break the cycle that so many people with intellectual and emotional disabilities fall into. With proper treatment of respect and opportunity, Carole and the NCIA can help these individuals grow and avoid running into the legal trouble that they so often do.
Carole Argo has been instrumental in the success of not only NCIA, turning it into a financially viable agency under her guide, but a long list of other organizations around the Baltimore area. Before coming to NCIA in 2008, Argo held positions including (but certainly not limited to) Chief Financial Officer (Optelecom Inc), Controller (BYK Gardner Inc) and Audit Manager (Deloitte and Touche, LLP).
During her business and professional career, Carole Argo has taken on tasks both challenging and creative, finding success at every stop. Having been granted the opportunity to work in such a wide variety of industries and sectors of business, the goals and objectives that Carole Argo faces on any given day present her with challenges that she looks forward to facing. Every time, Argo walks away from a challenge feeling as though she has grown, learned and ultimately tackled any obstacles with the utmost grace, poise and presence.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland where she remains to this day, Carole Argo’s past and upbringing is as impressive as her business career. She is the daughter of a U.S. Government Department of Defense engineer and spent the early years of her life living in Asia Pacific. She moved to Arizona and graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Arizona in 1983, Carole returned to school in 1996, receiving her Masters of Business Administration in Accounting from Loyola College of Maryland two years later while holding down a full-time job.
In addition to her business acumen, Carole Argo remains actively involved with the philanthropy and nonprofit sectors, getting involved whenever she has the opportunity to do so. She maintains active blogs about philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, business, motherhood and life at CaroleArgo.org and CaroleArgo.com.
